Yes, the above mentioned courses are “must-plays”, but Rivercut is a great track at a great value. Rivercut is in Springfield, MO, just 45 minutes north of Branson, so it’s a perfect spot to start or end a Branson golf trip if your road to Branson leads you through Springfield either via road or air. Even if your travels don’t take you through Springfield, you can easily take a day and find plenty to do in Springfield - play Rivercut, visit Bass Pro Shops and the Wonders of Wildlife Museum, and take in a Springfield Cardinals game (AA affiliate of the 11 time World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals!).
Rivercut Golf Course is a municipal golf course, operated by the Springfield Greene County Park Board. It has recently been rated as the #1 municipal golf course in Missouri, but it’s not your typical “muni”. Designed by Ken Dye, Rivercut sports fantastic zoysia fairways and bent grass greens. It plays as long as you want, and gives you all the challenge you want. The fairways are fairly generous, but the danger lies around the greens. Bring your best short game because missing a green almost always puts you in a bad spot. The front nine plays in a valley adjacent to the James River. The back nine takes you up out of the valley and plays through the gorgeous Rivercut community.
