Golf in the COVID-19 World
You would be hard pressed to find someone not affected in some way by the COVID-19 pandemic. We all pray this will soon pass. While those fortunate not to be stricken by the virus look for ways to stay active, golf is one outlet we can take advantage of.
Golf is one of the few activities we can enjoy in wide open spaces and maintain our social distance. Here are a few tips to safely enjoy the links during this crazy time:
*Walk the course instead of riding a cart.
*If you do ride a cart, bring some bleach wipes and sanitize the steering wheel and other contact points. Most golf courses will be diligent in doing so for their customers, but being prepared to do it yourself is a good idea.
*If you do prefer to ride a cart, and the golf course will allow, ride solo.
*Bring your own pencil to keep score.
*Leave the flag stick in the hole. The new rules of golf even allow for this (maybe the R&A and USGA knew something?)
*Avoid picking up your playing partner’s clubs. It’s a nice gesture walking off the green, but not necessary.
*Avoid high fives and shaking hands. Even worse, rubbing your hand through your hair and then shaking hands after the round!
*Avoid using the on course water coolers. Again, most courses will not offer them during this time, but if they do, best to avoid.
*Wash your hands at each restroom offered on the course.
By incorporating a few common sense measures, we can continue to enjoy the game we love and the benefits it provides. Stay well, and we hope to see you enjoying Branson golf or Destin golf , or golf wherever you are soon.
