Branson Hills Golf Club
If you want to play the best of Branson golf, Branson Hills Golf Club should be on your itinerary. Originally known as Payne Stewart Golf Club, Branson Hills offers a strong test of your golf skills. It is as long as you want and requires control of every facet of your game. Every hole is unique with huge elevation changes and awesome views. The bent grass greens roll true and quick, and the zoysia fairways always provide a good lie.
The first hole immediately gets your attention, a down hill 400+ yard par 4 with a severe drop off into a penalty area left of the green. The green is steep from back to front, so you really need to stay below the hole. From there, the golf course keeps getting better. Take advantage of scoring opportunities on #3, #7, and #8 before having to deal with “the tree” on #9. You’ll know it when you see it. The back 9 continues to demand accuracy off the tee, while providing scoring opportunities on #12, #13, and #14. You will finish with a 350+ yard par 4, severely uphill. A huge bunker 30 yards short of the green forces a well struck blind approach shot. Celebrate, or recuperate, in Magnolia Grill after the round and enjoy the view of the finishing hole.
A local rule of the original Payne Stewart Golf Club allowed relief from sand filled fairway divots as ground under repair, in honor of Payne Stewart’s well known objection to the official rule. When playing Branson Hills, make sure to take advantage!
